What kind of modeling experience do you have?
Peter: My previous experience includes work as a fitness model for “Billy’s Boot Camp Elite” Tae Bo infomercial, a model for Scholastic, Pride City Guide, Psycho Therapy Clothing, and Kehinde Wiley Studios, and a dancer for “Caliente.” In addition, I’ve had roles in projects for Symantec’s Norton Anti-Virus, “Relationship Rehab” for the Style Network, “Big Splash” for HGTV, and the Jonnny Lives! music video, “Get Steady.”
How did you get into modeling?
Peter: I was stopped on the street in Times Square by a talent scout and asked to come in for his company’s open-call. I went and the agency turned out to be a scam, but I had already caught the bug and decided to seriously pursue a career in modeling.
What is it about modeling that you enjoy?
Peter: I enjoy the fun and pleasure of getting to express myself in front of a camera and for a brief moment feeling like I’m on top of the world. However, most importantly I like the doors that are opened up by being a model. There are many opportunities to develop a career not just as a model but in other facets of the entertainment industry. I also don’t mind getting paid and having people recognize my face; those are nice incentives too.
Is there anything in modeling that you would really like to try and haven’t got the chance to yet? If so, what is it and why are you so interested in trying it?
Peter: Well since I am still new to the industry, I would love to model for NYC Fashion Week, appear in a major national print campaign for a designer like Sean John or Versace. I would also love to travel and do some international work. I want to try these things because that’s when I know I’ve hit the big time. I would love to do some international work so that I could travel and get to expand my perspective on the world, meet new people, and experience different cultures.
What is your ultimate goal in modeling?
Peter: My ultimate goal is to be as successful as I can be. I want major campaigns, commercials, magazine spreads, etc. I also want to be able to use my success in modeling to develop my other careers in the music and fashion industry.
Do you have any special talents?
Peter: I’m a full-time interior design student at IADT, so I’m constantly designing and coming up with concepts for a room.
Do you have any role models or people you look up to?
Peter: For role models I would have to say that I respect the success and talents of Tyra Banks, Erykah Badu, James Baldwin, and Dolly Parton. I also find many traits that I admire in my close friends and family members. However, for the most part I believe that in life we need to be our own leaders and sources of inspiration. Therefore, I look within to find and develop the positive and successful person that I want to be.
If you could do a photo shoot anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Peter: I would love to do a shoot in Paris since it’s one of the major fashion capitals of the world. Plus, I guess I’ve been brainwashed by all of the great French films and I would love to see all of the romantic scenes of the city.
What do you like to show off in pictures in particular?
Peter: I like to show off my face (i.e. different expressions) since that’s really what makes a model.
What is usually on your mind during a photo shoot?
Peter: I always concentrate on the photo shoot and try to get into the mood and theme of the shoot. Therefore what I think about varies. For example, when I did a shoot for Scholastic I had to be sad, happy, angry, and content. So, for each different emotion I thought about an event in my life that matched the specific emotion I was trying to express. Sometimes random thoughts will creep in such as: am I doing this right, do I look okay, and when will my next shoot be?
What are you hoping to get from being featured on The Noyse?
Peter: I hope to get some decent exposure and the rest is up to fate.
Any other comments?
Peter: Thank you for this opportunity.
