What kind of modeling experience do you have?
Dawn: I’m relatively new to modeling but have extensive experience as a performer; I’ve worked with local photographers, done promotions, and am signed to a non-exclusive agency in Michigan.
How did you get into modeling?
Dawn: The whole thing came about on a whim one night—after poking around the internet I stumbled upon an agency, submitted my information, and they hired me. Things just progressed from there.
What is it about modeling that you enjoy?
Dawn: I love seeing the results from photo shoots—it’s interesting seeing yourself through someone else’s eyes.
Is there anything in modeling that you would really like to try and haven’t got the chance to yet? If so, what is it and why are you so interested in trying it?
Dawn: I’d like to do more artistic work—there are some photographers I’ve talked with about this, but thus far we haven’t actually shot anything. Aesthetics is one of my main areas of interest, and I’m drawn to photography that captures a mood or story.
What is your ultimate goal in modeling?
Dawn: I’m happy if I can have fun, create great photos, interact with interesting people, and get paid for it. Though I wouldn’t mind making this into my main career, reality dictates that it’s more likely to stay as one of the many things that I do—most of my time goes into my musical career.
Do you have any special talents?
Dawn: See “Occupation.” I’m your basic artistic jack of all trades, though I also have a definite “geek” side (get into a conversation with me on science fiction and you’ll see what I mean).
Do you have any role models or people you look up to?
Dawn: I met Tom Elenbaas when we were working together to organize a large event on the University of Michigan campus; he was the pastor of University Reformed Church and eventually I got involved there. He’s perhaps the closest thing I’ve ever had to a mentor, and also a good friend. I’m inspired by his vision and passion for both God and people, and he’s been an incredible example of grace and forgiveness in my life—it’s a rare thing to find someone who truly believes in you.
If you could do a photo shoot anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Dawn: Paris, without a doubt. It’s a beautiful, historic city and my favorite in the world.
What do you like to show off in pictures in particular?
Dawn: My hair? That’s a strange question.
What is usually on your mind during a photo shoot?
Dawn: Usually I’m paying close attention to the photographer and trying to figure out what he’s looking for and how to express that.
What are you hoping to get from being featured on The Noyse?
Dawn: First, thanks for the chance to be featured! I appreciate the opportunity. I hope that both my modeling and music will get more exposure, and hey, if your readers stop by my website because of this, all the better.
