ART

When did you really get into art?
I guess when I was about 10. I started drawing when I met a kid named Seth Warde and he kind of taught me a few things and I never stopped. I was kind of thrown into the melting pot of skateboarding, tagging, drawing and all that other good stuff at a very young age.

How did you come to the realization that you should try your luck at art on a more serious level?
After high school I was really sick of working crappy jobs and started selling art on the internet. I made some money and just kept going to school for design.

How did you discover the particular style that you have?
Ever since I picked up a pen and started drawing I never changed. I started painting in high school and ever since then my art has just developed over and over. The way I used to draw things changed with growing up, not a high school or college class.

How would you describe your style?
I'd say aggressive and dark but also atmospheric and dreamy. I draw wicked and cold stuff, always have and always will. But painting offers me the chance to create dark and dreamlike scenes that I get lost in. It's like trying to paint what you see in the back of your eyelids ... sometimes memories come alive and changes you.

Who or what influences your art?
Definitely my childhood, not the best I could guess, but it ultimately gave me altered perspectives and memories that definitely influence my art and everyday life. Art took me away from the depressing factors in my life, from a very young age. But also music and other art. I'm really in to Japanese art and culture, hip hop, and just pure culture no matter what color you are.

How often do you create a new piece?
All day everyday. I'm always creating; however I do go through stages of painting where I often take breaks that aren't generally planned, just felt. But I've never stopped drawing.

What kind of success have you had with your art?
I've sold all over the world through the wonderful access of the internet. But I think the pure respect and love from my peers and fellow artists will always be my success.

What would be the ultimate goal for you and your art?
To always create would definitely be my dream. But more importantly my very long strive to finish college. I would love to start designing more once I get out of school and hopefully work in the Skateboarding Industry designing. I've always been around skateboarding and graffiti and would love to be a part till I'm old and gray.

What do you see as an accomplishment in the way of art?
A constant understanding of creation while always creating. Art is one of the most mind wrenching and beautiful aspects of my life. If I could create till I'm ninety and love every minute of it. I think that would be pretty big.

What kind of message, if any, do you try to convey through your art?
What I think, obviously. But my art is like me planting my roots. I'm at a key age of 23 and life is changing so quickly. My art used to be very angry and very dark. Once I started to grow up, my childhood went into the fog. Now I'm trying to tackle the feelings and emotions of dealing with the things I deal with. I believe a life can me completely off balanced for years and to get a life back in balance takes many years to balance back out. I plan for many years of trying to balance my life and my art has and will always help me.

Sum up your art in one word.
