When did you
really get into art?
My earliest memory of really getting into art was when I was about 7 years old.
I would race home everyday from school to watch cartoons like G-Force,
Spider-Man, Tom & Jerry and Bugs Bunny. I watch these shows and try to draw the
characters.
How did you come to the realization that you should try your luck at art on a
more serious level?
When I was about 20 years old my friends noticed my art and they began to ask to
do art on their jackets, pants and T-shirts. Soon I developed a reputation
around town as the guy to go to for art.
How did you discover the particular style that you have?
My style just happened from experience. After ever illustration I make I learn
something new. I learn what works and what doesn't work. On future art I make
adjustments to achieve the "look" that I'm going for.
How would you describe your style?
I think my style is bold funktastic hip-hopic creations seasoned with twisted
perspective lines and a dash of realism.
Who or what influences your art?
J. Scott Cambell, Frank Frazetta, Joe Chiodo, John Buscema and the female nude
=)
How often do you create a new piece?
These days I'm slammed with commercial projects but I try working on my own art
when ever I have free time. I get about 2 pieces a week done.
What kind of success have you had with your art?
Well, I've had more failures in art so far but now that ratio is finally turning
more positive. As an artist and even as a person I think one learns more from
failures than success. These days, more doors are opening for me because my
knowledge of art as a business is better.
What would be the ultimate goal for you and your art?
My ultimate goal is to make world peace happen through art. Just kidding, that
would be nice though. Actually, my goal is to become more diverse and complete
as an artist. I think to master several mediums would be cool. Lately, I've
begun to paint with oils, sculpt and create music.
What do you see as an accomplishment in the way of art?
When I can inspire other artists that is a great accomplishment and honor for
me. When other artists ask me questions about technique I try to share
everything that I know. Some artists see other artists as a threat, especially
in the commercial art field, that's not cool.
What kind of message, if any, do you try to convey through your art?
I like people to get an emotional message when looking at my art. I want them to
feel excitement, eroticism, laughter, terror.
Sum up your art in
one word.
Bodacious!
Any additional comments?
Thanks for opportunity. Enjoy!
