ART

K. Genzale

When did you really get into art?
I've been drawing as long as I can remember. My mom had a bunch of learn to draw books that I must have copied 100 times when I was little. My best friend as a kid and in high school was phenomenal at art, she inspired me to take my creativity to the next level. She is still a big inspiration to me today.

How did you come to the realization that you should try your luck at art on a more serious level?
When I was unemployed for a year and didn't have any thing to lose by becoming a "starving artist.

How did you discover the particular style that you have?
Trial and error, I really have two styles I work with one is kind of a swanky realism the other is a little more abstract. I have a really short attention span, when I get bored of one style I switch to the other. Its the only way I can finish anything.

How would you describe your style?
An A.D.D. and Barbiturate cocktail.

Who or what influences your art?
I'm influenced by everything around me. My T.V., crazy conspiracy theories, music, literature, and other people's art. I'm constantly trolling Craigslist looking for links to other emerging artists to see what they are doing. Also, my husband, we do a lot of work together, and often show each others pieces as our own. Bet you can't guess which ones are which.

How often do you create a new piece?
It comes in spurts one week I'll finish 5 pieces then I may not finish anything for the next two weeks.

What kind of success have you had with your art?
I'm just starting out showing and selling my work. So far I've gotten some great feedback and have managed to keep food in my refrigerator.

What would be the ultimate goal for you and your art?
It would be the bees knees to not have to hustle so much for my dinner. I would love to have more people seeking my paintings out, rather then seeking people out. I'd rather stay in and paint then ever have to leave my house.

What do you see as an accomplishment in the way of art?
Making people see the art and the world in a different way.

What kind of message, if any, do you try to convey through your art?
Most of my work is self reflective and comes from dealing with some of my own inner demons. If I can make people stop and feel something through my paintings, good or bad, then the piece had some kind of an impact and message for them. I don't really care if everyone interprets my paintings the same way.

Sum up your art in one word.
How about three: Bums, Boobs and Beer
