I have a little, unplanned extra time on my hands today, so I figured I would take the time to write a blog post different than the norm so far. Since my goal is to play a ton of games this year, I figured I would give you some insight as to what games are scheduled to be released in 2013 that I am excited to play (not just for this project, but in general) and why I am looking forward to them. I'll list then in chronological order for there listed or suspected release date, and also include the system I plan on playing each game on (not just what systems they're released on). Enjoy a sneak peak behind the curtains, folks! (Psssssssst! Click on the "Read More" link below!) DmC: Devil May Cry - PS3
I've never spend much time with any Devil May Cry games, but with the series essentially being reboot by a new developer, I'm curious as what this game is all about. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time - PS3/Vita (Cross-buy!) Not only is it the first official Sly Cooper game on the PS3, but it will also be the first one ever on the Vita, and if you buy the PS3 version, you get the Vita game for free. Plus, you can use your Vita to enhance the game play of the PS3 version. Oh, and the MSRP is only listed as $40. What's not to be excited about? Aliens: Colonial Marines - Wii U It's an Aliens game, it looks gorgeous and it's an FPS on the Wii U. Crysis 3 - Xbox 360 Crysis 2 was simply breathtaking, and I can't wait to see how far they have pushed the graphics in this next installment. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - PS3 Aside from the development problems this game has suffered from, it looks to be a "hack-n-slash" in the purest sense. Rayman Legends - Wii U If there is one game to show people how stunning the Wii U graphics and game play are, this will be it. The crown jewel of the Wii U library to this point, hands down. Tomb Raider - PS3 A total retooling of a classic franchise, I can't wait to experience Laura Croft being a little more rugged, a little more naive and lot dirtier. That sounds so wrong, I know, but go look it up. Trust me. God of War: Ascension - PS3 Newest outing for Kratos? Yes please. I just need to get through the God of War Saga first! BioShock: Infinite - PS3 Easily one of my top 3 most anticipated games from last year. I fell into the BioShock series later than most, but I fell in love the moment I entered Rapture, and I can not wait to see what Columbia holds in store. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct - Wii U or PS3 I had planned on playing this on PS3 all along, but it was just announced today that it will be released for the Wii U as well. Just made my decision a lot harder. Dead Island: Riptide - PS3 or Xbox 360 I loved the first one, but I played it on the 360, and since save files carry over to this next installment, that's tempting. But I would love to play it for trophies, and going back and playing the first one for trophies before hand would be a lot of fun. The Last of Us - PS3 Another highly anticipated game, everything I have seen of this screams "masterpiece," and I can't wait to see it first hand. South Park: The Stick of Truth - PS3 A full, action-adventure/RPG South Park game, made by Matt Stone and Trey Parker? Unless THQ goes bankrupt before this game comes out and that it is comprised by it, this should be a comedic goldmine. Injustice: Gods Among Us - PS3 The team that brought us the amazing Mortal Kombat game a couple of years ago is making a similar fighting game, but with DC Comics characters, such as Batman, Superman, The Flash, etc. Hell Yes! Grand Theft Auto V - PS3 Uhh, yeah. I haven't played a GTA game since Vice City, but I am soooooooo ready now. Bring it on. Beyond: Two Souls - PS3 Another PS3 exclusive, and a brand new IP (Intellectual Property, or basically, new franchise), this game looks like a story-driven, action-packed ball of fun. Deadpool - PS3 The wise-cracking, foul-mouthed X-men character is finally getting his own game. Might not be the best game ever, but damn does it look fun. Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Nintendo 3DS Can't wait to get back into this series, as it is one of those games that you can just block out the rest of the world from and completely submerge yourself in. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon - Nintendo 3DS We haven't got to experience a Luigi stand-alone game since his first Mansion game back when the GameCube was first released, so I can't wait to see what new concepts and ideas they have added, and how they incorporate the 3D effects. Pikmin 3 - Wii U Finally, another Pikmin game! And in HD! Plants vs. Zombies 2 - ??? This game was announced, but not a single detail about it is known at this point. If it was anywhere near as fun as the first, classic game, it should be awesome. Tearaway - PS Vita Kinda of like LittleBigPlanet, made by the same developers, but fully utilizing everything the Vita has to offer. The Puppeteer - PS3 I haven't seen a single video that doesn't make this game look outstanding. Let's just hope it doesn't get lost in the mix of big name, blockbuster titles. Well, that's it. There might be a few more, here and there, but just look at that list! How can anyone not be excited about playing games for a year with a CONFIRMED lineup like this? Plus, we may have a new system or two announced and even released by year's end, officially bringing in the next generation. Man, 2013 is going to be awesome.
